Responsibilities
• Brainstorm, concept and collaborate on overall campaign ideas with creative team
• Establish primary design direction
• Incorporate the best design and technology practices to provide cohesive support of overall creative strategies

• Expert proficiency with Adobe CS3+, Flash, After Effects, HTML, etc.
• Understand the technical possibilities and limitations of web development
• Ability to work on multiple projects, within time deadlines, and prioritizing
• Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with a team across all creative disciplines
• Team-oriented, self-motivated

Seeking email advice

I’m looking to expand my home ISP options. I’m wondering if anyone here has advice on efficient and affordable ways of creating an email account/name that I can move around from ISP to ISP without having to change my email address each time.

What I’m wanting to do is shed my cameron_m@qwest.net persona, and have something I can go anywhere with. Like cameron@cameronrocks.net, or something catchy like that.

I figure .mac is an option, yes? Maybe “mobile me” as well?

Any suggestions from all you smart early adopters out there?

The shorter a New Year’s resolution list, the better. To keep it simple, we’ve distilled a year’s worth of research and reading into just five management resolutions that could make a big difference in your productivity and happiness in 2010.

1. Empower your employees to make progress.
In a recent survey published by the Harvard Business Review, making progress was noted by employees as the number one factor in a positive work day – not recognition, not a big bonus, not a comfortable chair – progress. While empowering your staff to make progress may sound like a no-brainer, it’s not. As managers, our desire to be kept in the loop frequently hinders progress by burdening our team members with an over-abundance of “check-in” meetings, micro-managing emails, and so on. The takeaway? “Scrupulously avoid impeding progress by changing goals autocratically, being indecisive, or holding up resources.”

2. Prune away superfluous meetings (and their attendees).
Among all office events, none is more dreaded or more of a productivity drain than Meetings. But if you must meet, make sure everyone knows what needs to be accomplished from the outset. And if people are present who don’t help out with achieving that objective, let them leave. Qwest COO Teresa Taylor, recently interviewed in the NYT’s Corner Office, starts her meetings with the question, “Do we all know why we’re here?” and then follows with, “Does everyone need to be here?”

3. Conduct micro-reviews.
Annual reviews are out of touch with the speed of the modern workplace, as well as the frequency of turnover. (People change jobs every four years on average.) One alternative is to conduct collaborative micro-reviews every few months, where everyone on your team recommends a few things each person should Stop, Start, and Continue doing. Whatever approach you choose, keep in mind that positive feedback can be as effective as so-called constructive criticism.

4. Develop a daily routine.
Routines force us to organize our time and prioritize our tasks, rather than engaging in reactionary workflow – aka, just surfing along on a tide of incoming emails, vmails, tweets, and texts. Blocking out a morning “power hour” or two – in which you avoid checking your email and other communications – is a common and highly effective technique. It allows you to focus on core business initiatives like R&D and pushing forward big-picture priorities, before you get caught up in putting out small fires.

5. Do that thing you’ve been putting off – right now.
While we’re all aware of a tendency to put off distasteful tasks, it’s also incredibly common to procrastinate pleasurable things. A new study indicates that, “Once you start procrastinating pleasure, it can become a self-perpetuating process” as you fixate on some imagined ideal experience. We put off taking that vacation, opening that bottle of wine, or taking in that broadway show because we think we’ll be less busy in the future. Yet, as important as our work are the pleasurable breaks and digressions that renew our energy and focus. Don’t forget to take them in the new year!
